Trio of Empire Academy Players Sign Amateur Contracts

While not officially, announced by the club, Empire United announced that Brennan McDermott, Noah Morelli, and Quin Olcott have signed amateur contracts with Rochester NY FC. This makes them eligible to play on the first team. McDermott, a 17-Year-old CM standing 6'1" has been with the Empire Academy throughout his youth. Morelli a 16-year-old forward, played at Niagara-Wheatfield High School just north of Buffalo, New York, before joining Empire United. Olcott a native of Fayetteville, New York located just outside of Syracuse, is a 16-year-old CM, standing at 5'11". He has spent the past year as an attacking midfielder, taking penalties and set pieces for Empire United's Under-16 team.

Verdict:

The youngster probably won't feature much in Rochester's first-team plans for the next couple of seasons, but they can play with Empire United through the age of 19. While Olcott and Morelli are more of attacking minded players, McDermott seems to thrive in a defensive or holding midfielder role. These signings seem to be the first homegrown players Rochester NY FC has made since the rebrand/hiatus. It will be interesting to see what more youngsters Rochester NY FC can find in Soccer Town, USA.
