MLS Next Pro's season is in full swing, and Rochester sits bottom of the table albeit with a game in hand on Chicago Fire II. With the transfer period ending May 4th, Rochester comes into the last week of the first transfer window with three open professional roster spots. Recent signings CB/LB Ryan Firestone and GK Matheus Franca being considered as "amateur players" according to the League's roster guidelines. While Rochester could look to strengthen its side with free transfer, which can take place after the window, Rochester could look to make some signings/loans from other clubs. It's important to note that Rochester seemingly does not have any International roster spots open currently, meaning players brought aboard must have U.S. Citizenship, Green Card, or asylum status.
Needs:
Striker/Center-Forward (ST/CF): Currently, Rochester has the second worst attack in the MLS Next Pro League, with 3 goals in 4 games. Also, there is a shortage of natural strikers with the only senior strikers being Will Inalien, Davis Smith, and Preston Popp. Raymond Drai can fill it at the position as he showed against NYC FC II, but he is more of an attacking midfielder/shadow striker. Further, if Bruno Baltazar wishes to play more of a 4-4-2 which he played on 4/23/22 against NYC FC II, then Rochester might need 2 more strikers.
Right Sided Defender (CB/RB): Rochester could also use another right footed CB/RB on its roster. Currently the duo of Gustavo Rissi and Gerardo Lopez have split time at the right sided center back. With Baltazar not having a clear favorite at the position, Rochester could look to pick up another defender before the transfer window closes. Additionally, a right sided CB could look to provide coverage for RB as well, with Milan Vanacker being the primary starter for Rochester, with Jacob Akanyirige appearing only once so far.
Ball-winning/Defensive Midfielder (CDM): This "need" is more of a nice to have, as Bubacar Djaló has played every minute as the Defensive minded midfielder for Rochester so far, however there doesn't seem to be a natural fit to back him up, with Vanacker having minor experience at the position.
