Paulo Soares Called Up to Cape Verde National Team

Per a release on Instagram, winger Paulo Soares has been called up to the Cape Verde national football team for a friendly against world cup bound Ecuador this Saturday, June 11th. The match will be played at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida at 7 pm EST, featuring Cape Verde the 71st ranked team in FIFA's official rankings, taking on 46th ranked Ecuador. This match coincides with Rochester's match against FC Cincinnati II which kicks off at 8 pm the same night. For Soares, it will be his first senior international cap, having captained the Cape Verde U-19 side previously. For Rochester New York FC, Soares is the first international call-up since the rebrand, an important milestone for a 3rd tier team.

Verdict: For Rochester, it will leave them low on options at Right-Wing Back, as Soares has split time with Jacob Akanyirige at the position since Milan Vanacker went down for the year. For Soares, it provides an excellent chance to showcase his skills on the global stage against world-class talent who should be looking to tune-up before the World Cup.
